xp slow to open a file in explorer

this is on a XP system using office 2007

If you have a resident Virus software, disable it and see if it helps. I

had AVG Virus Software loaded and it responded similar to what your seeing.

The date and time was 8/12/2008 12:18 PM, and on a whim, jcsquish

If there are any mapped drives that are unavailable, this could cause

the delay, as Windows tries repeatedly to connect.

As could indexing if it was just recently turned on.

Just want to say thanks so much. It was a mapped drive that is unavailable.

As soon as I disconnected it it is fast again. Appreciate the help would

not have thought of thats.
