Guest FB Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Win2003 64-Bits SP2 in IBM xSeries 3650 100% updated (firmware, driver, softwares, etc) It´s no SBS! My NTBackup LOG shows: ==================================== Backup Status Operation: Backup Active backup destination: LTO Ultrium Media name: "Media 2008-08-12 Tue " Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1. Timeout before function completed Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy: 0x80042319. Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:80042319 Aborting Backup. ---------------------- The operation did not successfully complete. ---------------------- ==================================== Even disabling the use of ShadowCopy the error appears again, the same error message. I´ve restarted ShadoCoy Service and the error appears again. What else i can do? I don´t wanna restart because it´s a production file server with 275.000 files in 198 GB and 250 users.

Guest FB Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Re: Error in NTBackup and ShadowCopy: 0x80042319 and 80042319 No, the Article shows: "Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1" And my system is "...Win2003 64-Bits SP2 ..." Now the problem is getting worst, today i checked and the file server is fully functional but the Login screren does not appers, i can´t do Login, TS, Telnet, MMC... nothing works. Only the file serving is fully functional for 250 users... files are opening normally but i can´t manage or access the system for management tasks Yesterday i´ve tried to correct the problem "des-registering" and "re-registering" several DLLs and the MS Shadow Copy service appers again "Olaf Engelke [MVP]" wrote: > Hello, > "FB" <FB@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:5DE6966D-E208-48D5-8EB7-0EE9B0306EB2@microsoft.com... > > Win2003 64-Bits SP2 in IBM xSeries 3650 100% updated (firmware, driver, > > softwares, etc) It´s no SBS! > > > Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy: 0x80042319. > > Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:80042319 > > Aborting Backup. > > > check, if the hotfix package described here can solve your issue: > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833167/en-us > "A Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) update package is available for Windows > Server 2003" > > Best greetings from Germany > Olaf > >
