Directory Shares stop responding on Server 2008

Recommended Posts

I have a new Server 2008 server that is providing file services. After

a few hours the directory/user shares slowly stop working user by user until

no users can access the shares. There are no errors in the Event Log.

The only

fix is to restart the server. But, the problem returns after a few hours.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Hello Larry,

Make sure all latest NIC drviers for 2008 are installed and ofcourse on all

clients. Also make sure that all machines use only domain internal DNS servers.

What error does do you get, when accessing the share?

Best regards

Re: Directory Shares stop responding on Server 2008

They don't get an error message when the shares stop responding, there

computers just hang.

I believe I have found the problem. We are running Symantec EndPoint

protection version 11.0.2. I talked to Symantec yesterday, they say this

is a know bug in EndPoint Protection and the fix will be released in

Maintenance release 3 due out in September 2008. In the mean time they

have proved me with a work around. I should know if this is the fix in the

next day or two.

Thanks for the help. Larry

Hello Larry,

If you have a workaround would be nice if you can post it here, so some others

can also use it.
