Guest Sunny Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Hi, I have a shortcut to a file folder at the top of my start menu. It used to "expand" the folder content, when the mouse pointer was hovered over it (same as I have for Control panel under "settings" After a re-install etc. I can't remember how I did it, and would be thankful if I can be put on the right track. TIA
Guest Rajiv Kohli Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Re: Expanding a folder I think this functionality is available if you are using Classic Style Start Menu. 1. Right-click on Start Menu and choose Properties. 2. Click Classic Start Menu and apply the changes. Not sure, if this can also be done in XP Style Start Menu (not atleast in Pinned item list). Maybe not possible as it will overlap other menu items. However, you can drag your shortcuts (when using XP Style Start menu) in Start - All Programs. This will give you the same functionality. Hope this help, let us know! Under "Start menu items" the radio buttons "Display as a menu" under Control Panel, My Computer, My Documents, My Music and My Pictures should be ticked if they are the folders you want to expand. -- Rey "Sunny" wrote: > Hi, I have a shortcut to a file folder at the top of my start menu. > It used to "expand" the folder content, when the mouse pointer was hovered > over it (same as I have for Control panel under "settings" > > After a re-install etc. I can't remember how I did it, and would be > thankful if I can be put on the right track. > TIA > > >

Sunny stated that "he has a file folder shortcut in Start Menu" which he want to expand not the system folders like Control Panel or My Documents etc. "Rey Santos" <ReySantos@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:46AFFCF7-F5FC-449A-BD5E-F8A610C7F6B7@microsoft.com... > Rightclik Start button > Start Menu tab, tick the "Start menu" radio > button > to select it > Click the Customize... button > Click on the Advanced tab, > under "Start menu seetings" click on the box that says "Open submenus when > I > pause with my mouse" to check it. Guest Sunny Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Re: Expanding a folder Finally sorted it :-) I have been attacking from the wrong angle by creating a shortcut (drag and drop the folder to the start button) The drill is to : Right click the start button (classic menu) and then . Properties > Customise > Add > Browse to the required folder. (The expand of contents with the mouse hover is done magically :-) Thanks for pointing me in the right direction "Sunny" <wombathouse@yahoo.com.au> wrote in message news:OHh10Xe$IHA.4816@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > That's what I meant, still working on it :-) > > "Rajiv Kohli" <rajivkohli@msn.com> wrote in message > news:E1A7D5D7-653E-4120-B552-60CB92243893@microsoft.com... >>I think he is not asking what you have answered.
