KenB Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Hi, Take a look here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK I couldn't find M65 - but it must be part of the M60 series. If that doesn't do it - try this one: http://www.gzrcw.net/drivers/toshiba/Satellite/drivers_1123.html Try re-installing the drivers they could be corrupt. TOGWT Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 I couldn't find the correct drivers on those links Would it be safe to 'uninstall' audio via CMD (devmgt.msc)shutdown > and then ''update' audio via CMD? Thought process (ChemE not an IT guy) is that if one of the files is corrupted this may fix it. Thanks for your time and patience ... Quote
KenB Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Hi, Would it be safe to 'uninstall' audio Yes - it is not going to harm your system other than you will have no sound. Don't do that yet - leave it as an option to try later. Try the following: Start > type in ....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER Click the + next to Sound Video Game Controllers Let me know exactly what is listed (I only have one device) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Plastic Nev Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Hi, when you say the sound goes funny as if the battery is low, do you mean low volume, or low speed playback like an older vinyl record at the wrong speed? If it is speed, in what player or players do you hear this problem? I had a similar problem when sounds were played back in Windows Media player, a check and found a newer version was available which cured that problem. So can you let us know which player you are having the problem in, and also which version it is. It could be a player problem rather than a drivers issue. Nev. TOGWT Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Is this the 'player > Audio Codec Realtek ALC250 < ? Quote
Plastic Nev Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 OK, to ask a different question, when do you hear these low speed sounds, music? games? or in web based sounds via your browser. The realtek Audio codec is part of the sound system software, not the player. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. TOGWT Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 The only ref I can find in the Toshiba specs regarding 'player' Toshiba Express Media Player Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 Quote
Plastic Nev Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 The Microsoft Windows Media Player or the Toshiba Express Media Player, is what I was referring to. The Microsoft Windows Media Player is the one that is usually opened automatically by any of the sound source things you mention. The Toshiba Media Player also may come into it, but usually only if either made the default player in its settings or by manually selecting that player to play something. I suggest opening the Toshiba player and trying that to play music or other sound file and see what happens, if the sound is OK, the fault must be in the Windows Media player. You say it is version 10, it may need to be updated anyway as the present version is now at 12. If the fault is there in both players, then we may be back to sorting out the correct drivers for the sound system. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. The detailing forums I contribute to the answers are not just provided by staff but other contributors as well, so I thought I would get other opinions. I'll stick with CHF Quote
