Teabags Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Not wanting to buy another printer I am continuing with my ageing HP5150 printer with my recent Windows 7 (64bit) desktop. Whilst the printer works OK I keep getting a warning when I try and download the HP printer 'assistant' software from disk to enable me to perform maintenance. I was aware that it might not like the new OS but is it still safe to continue with the download or just get a newer printer.:o Thanks. Quote
KenB Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Hi, According to the HP site see here Your printer is Win 7 64 bit compatible and the drivers are embedded in Win 7 ( detect and install automatically ) What is the warning message that you get? Teabags Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Thanks for the reply. Yes your right, the printer is plug and play and works fine. The software on the disk is old though (pre-Vista) and shows a rectangular yellow warning re: the OS. I need the software to enable cartridge cleaning/alignment and troubleshooting. The Windows Printer Test Page was also OK. Quote
KenB Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Try the Update Patch from my previous link: see here This fixes some of the Win7 functionality problems - it specifically mentions Toolbox ....which is what you are looking for I think :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
