In the Advanced Options menu, select the Last Known Good Configuration option. Also be aware that there is always a risk of data loss when chkdsk is run. John Mark wrote: > I lost power and now am getting the Blue Screen of Death with th above error > code. I rebooted using the resource disk and went to the DOS prompt, i entered the cmd CHKDSK /R and got the following: Invalid Switch Try using SCANDISK. Ran SCANDISK and it found no errors, issued FIXBOOT and it said it was invalid? If you do not have a real Windows XP CD you can use the Setup floppy diskette set to boot to the Recovery Console: How to obtain Windows XP Setup disks for a floppy boot installation http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994 John Mark wrote: > Thank you for the information. > > I rebooted using the resource disk and went to the DOS prompt, i entered the > cmd > CHKDSK /R and got the following: > > Invalid Switch > > Try using SCANDISK. > > Ran SCANDISK and it found no errors, issued FIXBOOT and it said it was > invalid? > > "John John (MVP)" wrote: > > >>Boot to the Recovery Console and issue the following commands: >> >>chkdsk /r >>fixboot >> >>Please be aware that running chkdsk /r may take a long time, do not >>interrupt chkdsk while it is running! The meaning of this sentence is unclear: "issued FIXBOOT, and it said it was invalid?" So, did Fixboot say it was invalid (meaning the MBR) Or, did the command processor say that the command Fixboot is invalid? Jim

It appears that some how when I lost power my SATA setting were reset back to factory default. I was only able to find that when I used the Windows XP CD.
