Monitor doesn't come on after Standby

Recommended Posts

Posted

I use Standby all the time through out the day and over night. Then I hit

the powerbutton and the computer is on in a matter of seconds with the

programs I was using on the monitor ready to go.

Just recently, I haven't installed anything or done anything new - changed

no settings, - the computer comes on when I hit the powerbutton but the

monitor never does.

In the Power Options Properties I have: Turn off monitors, Turn off hard

disks and System Standby all set to Never.

And it's always been like that. Including up to yesterday when the Standby

always turned on the monitor.

Any ideas where I could start to get this fixed?

I did go here: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm to have Live

Care scan my computer and they came up empty handed.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You said you have standby set to never. I suggest you reset your settings

and use the mouse or keyboard to bring it out of standby. Do not use power

on switch. Set both mouse and keyboard to 'allow this device to bring

computer out of standby'.

Set standby after x minutes. You should turn off monitor and hard drives.

I tried your suggestion.

Again, the computer is coming on.

No problems there.

The monitor is not coming out of the standby.

It may have something to do with the computer not sending a signal to the

monitors as it comes out of a standby.

Check for an updated video driver at the manufacturer of the monitors site.

RE: Monitor doesn't come on after Standby

Jay,

This is just a shot in the dark, but try going to "Power Options" in

Control Panel and look at the Hybernate tab. If Hybernate is check marked,

uncheck it and then see if your monitor works.

I did that and installed it and rebooted and problem is still there.

No change.
