Guest Chas Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Occasionally, I cannot shut down, log off or run Task manager on my system. I click on shut down or Task Manager and nothing happens. I can open and close all applications and use my system normally but I have to use the case switch to shut down. System is XP Pro and I have run anti-virus and anti-spyware software, nothing is detected. Can anyone help please?

I see that once in awhile if Ad-Watch is running. I'll go to shutdown and Ad-Watch disappears from the tray as well as some other programs and then bounces back to Windows again. Trying again will result in the same. If this sounds like yours, I end the task in the Task Manager and I leave it in the Startup folder so it is always running and I can get to it. In your case, it just might be a program that causes this problem. If you need help figuring which one, just post back. -- Bill Black Asus EEE PC 4GB 2GB SoDIMM Adata 16GB Windows XP SP2 and Xandros Linux
