Guest Dean Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I am no longer asked for my password when I initially plug in the flash disk. I forgot how I initially set that up, so I need the instructions again. -- Dean Colorado Springs

And since you don't mention what that is, it's rather hard to give an answer. HTH -pk
Guest Dean Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Re: Password protect Flash Drive It is a 2 gig thumb drive/disk. I don't recall if I received instructions from the 3rd party (PNY) or not. I assumed that all of these types of removable disks would have the same procedure to set up password protection. -- Dean Colorado Springs "Patrick Keenan" wrote: > > "Dean" <dean.hauser@cox.net/No Spam> wrote in message > news:CEF76795-2FF5-4649-95DB-2A04D195D954@microsoft.com... > >I am no longer asked for my password when I initially plug in the flash > >disk. > > I forgot how I initially set that up, so I need the instructions again. > > -- > > Dean > > Colorado Springs > > Sorry, but this isn't anything to do with XP and is specific to whatever 3rd > party protection you used on that drive. No, there are a few different encyption apps used by different manufacturers. On a related topic, this drive doesn't contain the only copy of that data, does it? You have copies elsewhere? USB flash drives have a habit of suddenly and permanently failing. Guest Dean Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Re: Password protect Flash Drive I have copies of all the data ... I just like to have it safe when not in my possession.
