Windows Server 2008 bakcup logs

Recommended Posts

I am using wbadmin to backup my Windows Server 2008 server using a scheduled

task. Everything works great as far as the backup is concerned.

I want to have the server attach the log file and email it to me when the

backup is completed. Where is the backup log file? I can’t find it anywhere

and I cannot find the answer on the net.

So my question is, where is the backup log file?

Thanks

Hello Brett,

Check this folder:

C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsServerBackup\

Re: Windows Server 2008 bakcup logs

Thanks Meinolf.

Indeed there are some log files there in .etl format.

I deleted all of the files and did another backup. When the backup started a

log file appeared but when the backup was completed the file disappeared!

I don't know what good the .etl file woud do me anyway.

I do not see how to specify any logging with wbadmin.

Does that mean that if the backup is successful there is no log file?
