CelticC Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Sorry I took a while to get back, been a bit busy with all the X-mas stuff. The wifi has sped up significantly, but sometimes it will just go back to being quite slow again. The speed test always stays the same regardless. I'm not sure exactly why though. However, this happens so infrequently it is not a problem anymore. You have been a great help and thanks for giving up your time to help me out. I'd mark this as solved. I haven't got anything to donate at the moment because of buying all the Christmas gifts, but I'll be sure to give the forum a small donation when I do because you've been a very good help. Quote

max_power Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Hi max_power and welcome to ExTS Yes - please start a new thread :) Thanks for the welcome. After some googling it seems the stock wireless card, Atheros, is pretty terrible. I tried all of the above steps but to no avail. I downloaded the Intel driver update utility and updated the drivers again via this link http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/wireless and it now seems to be working fine so far. If there is further issue, I'll be sure to post back again. Many thanks again. Gret site! Quote

Fulldps Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I had the same problem with the same laptop - Asus N55S, after restoring the system. Updated the wireless driver from the intel link above to version 1.5.1.1.1 and it solved the problem. ( The driver version after system restore was 1.4 something.) This thread was very usefull. Quote
