Guest RAH Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I have been attempting to install SP3 on a Dell 4550 with XP Pro SP2 installed. I have already installed it on two other computers without any problem. I tried it first with the downloaded file, and get an access error. It then uninstalled the attempt. I next tried to use Windows Update. That one failed also. The log showed the error code to be 0x8024402C. This machine successfully updated nine critical updates on August 14th. It just doesn't like the SP3 update for some reason. All three machines run Norton Internet Security, and Webroot Spy Sweeper for MSN. Dick

That was exactly what I needed. After I reset the registry and permissions, XP3 installed without any problem, even with my anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewalls running. Dick
