Guest anon Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 For some reason I lost a hard drive although I can access the data on the drive through microsoft digital image it does not show up in my computer.It is not showing up in disk management. I am using XP Pro SP3. Thanks in advance

Does the drive physically register in the bios? I fixed a drive the other day by changing the power plug, the data cable, and the IDE port on the mobo it plugged into. It wasn't a bad drive at all. [^^usually can't do this^^]

I will try new cables though. Something to try: Unplug the drive and reboot so that it no longer shows up anywhere. Then plug it back in and reboot, the bios will see it again and register it, and maybe XP will recognize new hardware.
