Guest chrissyd Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Hi all, can anyone tell me how to get rid of three cookies sitting in my temp internet files directory? I've been able to delete all others but these - they're from retail sites (e.g. buy fencing direct, etc.) and all have expiry dates ways into the future. Thanks, chrissyd.

Guest ju.c Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Re: Getting rid of cookies Try: 1. Open the Run box and enter: RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 2 (that will delete all cookies) If that doesn't work: 2. DelinvFile - Delete Invalid Files and Folders http://www.purgeie.com/delinv/index.htm Please let me know if those work or not. ju.c "chrissyd" <chrissyd@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:32E32396-C6FB-46B2-AA32-D962A47E2BAF@microsoft.com... > I've just tried dragging them to the recycle bin and it says <cannot delete > file: Cannot read from the source file or disk> > > "chrissyd" wrote: > >> Hi, nothing happens ! Guest ju.c Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Re: Getting rid of cookies First search the Windows drive in all files and folders including hidden and system for "InetCpl.cpl" (with quotes), it is an Internet Explorer file. If found, copy to C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetcpl.cpl. You may need to re-install IE if not found. But first, if IE seems fine just download "InetCpl.cpl" from here: http://www.uploading.com/files/ENE2OA8X/inetcpl.cpl.html and copy it to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetcpl.cpl" For information, on my WinXP SP3 system the version is 7.00.6000.16705. ju.c "chrissyd" <chrissyd@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9B0896F5-57DD-4745-9072-3618F9814BA7@microsoft.com... > Hi, is the syntax exact on the run box command? Guest Alan Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Re: Getting rid of cookies Hi ju.c, Don't the files for SP3 have '5512' as the last digits in the version number? I believe that's an easy way to tell if someone is using the RTM version of SP3. For example, my Inetcpl.cpl shows version 6.0.2900.5512, lsass.exe shows version 5.1.2600.5512, regedit.exe shows version 5.1.2600.5512...
