Display.cpl Missing Tabs

My XP computer contracted a trojan called Antivirus XP 2008 which deleted

tabs on the Display Control Panel Applet. The tabs are "Desktop" and

"Screensaver". The other tabs are OK. Any way to restore these tabs?

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Looks like you need to repair some registry entries that were tampered with.

Use my Remove-it software, choose yes for all options when prompted.

Download it here http://pcbutts1.com/downloads/tools/tools.htm

Try Kelly's tweak:

Registry Edits for Windows XP

"Tweaks and Tips"

Line 128. Right hand side - Restore Desktop and Screensaver Tabs

Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the

import prompt.

Re: Display.cpl Missing Tabs

Thanks for the response. I have deleted most of the files related to the

Trojan "Antivirus XP 2008", but it has apparently deleted reg entries for

the desktop and screensaver tabs in my Display.cpl (and who knows what

else?). Does your program restore these missing reg entries?

Thanks again...!!!

I hope you didn't download anything from PCButts1. He's a known malware

and spyware spreader.
