Guest Artificer Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I have been playing around with the Full Server Backup feature on windows server 2008. It looks great but I wonder if it is truly a “FULL” server backup. For example I want to know if the feature will be able to protect SQL Server & Exchange. I would like to be able to do a backup that is basically an “image” and I want to know if the Full server backup will do the trick. Also I would appreciate if anybody could please point to a tool that allows me to do the same on windows server 2003. Please be aware that I am not looking for fancy features like restore a specific file. I just want something that can do a full system backup/image without stopping the server and that I can letter use to revert the system back without reinstalling everything.
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Re: Full Server Backup Hello Artificer, Basically 2008 uses like 2003 the Volume shadow copy feature to create the backup. It makes a snapshot from the disk, but i think you can not compare it with an image done with ghost or acronis for example.
