broc028 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Hi, I have an Acer Aspire One netbook (running XP) which wont start. It loads until the desktop, then blue screen and restarts. I relaise reinstalling Windows would prob fix the problem but I have some stuff on it I need to recover (3 years of photos!). Im thinking booting the computer with a bootable cd with a data recovery tool using an external CD drive and ciopying the files to an external HDD.However this is a bit over my head!Is such a thing doable or am I way off the mark? Thanks! Quote
KenB Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Hi and welcome to ExTS This is possible the way you describe - a simpler method is to use a hard drive to USB adapter. You take the hard drive out > connect it to the adapter > connect this to a second PC and if the drive is accessible ( there are no guarantees from what you have written ) you can access it like you would a memory stick. If you have the original Windows installation CD ( not recovery disks ) it is possible to do a repair install - your data will remain intact. Which way do you want to go? Olivias38 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 No matter, whatever is the reason for losing your important data like partition deletion or partition damage! You just don’t have to get tensed. Just make use of Data Recovery software and retrieve the required data. Edited by KenB Quote
KenB Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Olivias38 I would be very careful what you post. This is irrelevant. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
