Gary - WHY did you post that reply?

Did it make you feel good? Important?

Have you forgotten that you are a representative of those who have been

granted the MVP status? (But who knows for sure?!!)

@ learningfast15 .................. Do NOT post your name and address here!

Try your friends and/or eBay for a Windows 98 SE Installation CD.

You don't really need to post your routing number, you're SSN will suffice.

Correction:

Should have been 'your SSN'. Besides, if someone were dumb enough to do it

they would probably wouldn't have recognized the spelling error either.

Here's a chore that should take your the rest of the day (we can hope?):

Look up the word "sarcasm", look it up in several places, find articles

discussing its use in communications, both as a shortcut to the truth of a

given topic and as purely derogatory communication. Explain the difference.

I'll expect a short, snappy, 100-word report on what you've learned.

Appropriate and proper use of sarcasm in your report earns extra credit.

Look, SlowLearner15... Let me spell it out clear as I can: What you are

doing is soliciting a crime in public, on permanent public record, and in

the immediate presence of the corporate person upon whom you intend to

perpetrate said crime.

Go buy a copy for $40 on EBay. Or go steal one. But quit being a total

dunce.

LOL! Little of this, a little of that... Mostly navel gazing, actually, ;-)

Seriously, while I haven't the skills myself, I have an amazing collection

of interesting friends, and they likewise have an amazing collection of

acquaintances. And I seem to have done a lot of people the right kinds of

favors in the past, so maybe its time I took up a new hobby?

Of course, there's always the mercenary intelius market.

Explain please? Where in the world is it not a crime to distribute pirated

copies of Windows? Have some countries decided that it's totally OK, or

maybe they split the difference and greatly shortened the amount of time

copyright applies to software? I've heard that the EU has done some changing

of EULAs, but are they universally applied or do the special rules only

apply to MS, or what?

You can make your own free copy when you buy the original. (Only make one

copy). Prices seem to start from 46 for OEM full version, and 89 for retail

full version. That's U.S. dollars. Ebay may be less expensive.

Only the person in possession of the license for, and in possession of the

original installation CD, may make a backup copy of that original. That is,

one copy only. You may also make an ISO copy, as long as only one physical

CD backup copy of the original exists at any one time.

I'll not talk about Iran.

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_and_copyright_issues>

The OP asks for an image of a CD. He doesn't mention, but he can have a

license, and have lost or scratched his CD, or even never have had a CD,

because he bought his computer with a licensed windows preinstalled without

CD. In this case (if he has a license), AFAIK it's legal here in Europe to

get a copy of the CD elsewhere. MS doesn't provide W98 CD's anymore, but

that doesn't mean your license is void when you lost your CD.
