Guest UWStudent Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I want to uninstall my network card driver completely. I am using Win XP, I go to my device manager and uninstall the driver from there but when I reboot my system Windows loads the driver again. Is there some way that I could completely uninstall the driver and it doesn't get loaded when the system restarts?

If the NIC can't be removed physically, it might help to open Device Manager, double-click the NIC, and under "Device Usage", select "Do not use this device (disable)". -- Joe =o)

Usually the NIC can be disabled as part of the Peripheral Setup category. If I disable the card from the bios and then try to uninstall the driver would it reinstall itself again after restarting?

You'd probably want to uninstall the driver first, then go to the BIOS on next restart to disable it.
