addisonm Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hey guys! I am in serious need of help, I have had my Fujitsu Lifebook A series (AH531) now for only a few months and it has served my very well, the other day i went to turn my laptop on I was confronted with the dreaded blue screen of death, of which im very aware of. The screen in full reads as follows: "STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Errror} The verfication of a KnownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly wi th a status of 0xc0000020 (0x00d1bcc0 0x00000000). The system has been shut down." I have tried startup repair, memory diagnostics, system restore, recovering system image, and booting a windows 7 install disc from DVD drive (which would not boot, an am unsure why) There is lots of important data on the laptop and I need it to work on anyway, so I need to know if anyone knows how to fix this? Note: It will not boot in safe mode. Any help will be hugely appreciated. Thanks Quote
Jelly Bean Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hello and welcome... My first question to you is,does the hard drive show on post screen and in the BIOS? Have you tried last known good config? Boot to the Recovery Console and type chkdsk /P and hit enter. the Check Disk Utility will try and fix any file errors. This could be a viris... I will alert the Security Guys for you... The 0xc0000022 error means Access Denied, which could be the malware changed the NTFS Permissions. If you can connect the drive to another system you could remove your files then reattach the drive and do a full reinstall of windows.... However let the Security Team have a look first... KenB Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hi and welcome to ExTS My initial thought is that this is still under warranty ( Is it ? ) If it is I suggest that you contact the retail outlet who sold it to you and ask their advice. You may be invalidating any warranty by following our advice. I was going to suggest removing the hard drive and running a system file check on it by attaching it via a hard drive to USB adapter or enclosure. If this doesn't invalidate the warranty it is also possible to take the files / photos etc off it if the drive is accessible. addisonm Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 (edited) I ran the CHKDSK facility through command prompt on the recovery screen and although it said /P was an invalid parameter using r and f i managed to get it to run but it resulted in no change on boot up. I cant think of any sort of software i have downloaded recently that would come with malware but im sure its still possible. Ive ran out of ideas now, It is in warranty it looks like im going to have to take it to the manafacturer or shop I bought it Hopefully I can still recover data Any other suggestions are very welcome thanks Edit: From the microsoft data base and other websites it seems it may be a third party application that caused this problem is i cant delete anything recent due to the fact it wont boot in safe mode. im at a loss Edited December 22, 2011 by addisonm Quote
Plastic Nev Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Can you get it to at least the pre safe mode screen and select "Last known good configuration"? I just left you some advice which contains that on CHF. We would appreciate it if you stuck to one forum at a time, fair enough to go elsewhere if not getting the right help on one forum, but trying to run the same question on several forums at once can only lead to confusion, and in some cases conflicting advice that could make the situation worse. I hope you understand. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. If Free PC Help has helped you then please consider a donation. KenB Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I suggest a hard drive to USB adapter or enclosure ( Google both for price ) If you have a laptop then this is relatively cheap: See Here This is an enclosure. There are cheaper ones if you spend a little time looking. You can take your hard drive out and connect it up to the USB port via the enclosure. Once you connect it up to another computer you should be able to access the drive like you would a memory stick. I suggest you give this a try. If ( and there is no guarantees ) you can access the drive, I suggest that you take any data / photos off it first before we do anything else. EDIT: I just left you some advice which contains that on CHF. Both Nev and I post on CHF too - decide where you want to continue. I feel I must remind you that this machine should still be under warranty. You need to check with the seller before you carry out any work on the system.
