Hi

I'm trying to make a dvd of some songs with videos for my Dad. I downloaded the program Vdownloader, so i can download videos from youtube.

This seemed fine and i got all the videos downloaded in a folder then burned them to a dvd disc on my laptop. But when i put the disc in my dvd player connected to my TV, it just keeps sticking on loading and doing nothing.

The files are VLC media file (.mp4) format and they play ok on my laptop using VLC media player. But do i need to convert the files to a different format to play through my tv and dvd player ?

Thanks very much for any help, sorry if its a daft question, i must admit my knowledge isnt very good.

Merry Christmas all :-)

Yes. You need to burn them to a DVD format using a burning program like Nero or Roxio or Cyberlink etc.

You can also use the Windows DVD Maker that comes with Vista but they need to be these file types for movies.

Video files: .asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

Note that .mp4 is not in the list.

There are many converter programs if the software that came with your computer can't handle the mp4 format.

Also there are youtube downloaders that will save in the wmv format.
