Sebastian42 Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 In THIS WinXP system, when I move desktop icons slightly, it's like they are on elastic bands, and they snap back into place. In another similar WinXP system of mine on a different computer, the icons stay put in any higgeldy-piggeldy position I drag them. The settings on the desktop menu for 'Arrange icons by...' are identical for the two WinXP systems. How might I fix the faulty (the latter) one ? Quote
KenB Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Hi, Not on XP at the moment ............ If you right click on the desktop > are the "Auto Arrange" and "Lock Desktop Icons" both checked ? Sebastian42 Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 "If you right click on the desktop > are the "Auto Arrange" and "Lock Desktop Icons" both checked ?" Neither. I do NOT want AUTOARRANGE to be effective; There is no 'Lock Desktop Items'; there is a 'Lock Web Items on Desktop' - another feature I am NOT interested in. Quote
KenB Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Bit aggressive with your reply. Somebody else may have more suggestions but I do NOT! Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test

Plastic Nev Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 OK, glad to hear you got it sorted out, but please remember we are all volunteers, doing this help because we want to. When you are paying money, then you can get angry. Also we are working in a remote fashion, we don't have your computer on our desk or work bench, we depend on you telling us the knowledge you have, in order for us to help you. I know it can be frustrating when something has gone wrong and you cannot find an answer, but it doesn't help lashing out at us. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Sebastian42 Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 I am sorry, but alas sad to say, not suprised, that you interpret a no-nonsense statement of facts as lashing out. It was NOT intended as a criticism. I appreciate what your volunteers offer to those in need, and hope to keep benefiting from their goodwill, whether or not my problems are solved by them. Quote
