Hi All

Are there any known problems with installing SP3 into Windows XP Home.

Auto update has offered this and I wished to just check.

Thanks in advance

Things to do prior downloading/installing SP3.

1.Make an Image backup of the hard drive/Windows Partition before you

install SP3

2.Test your System Restore to see if it is working correctly.

3.Make absolutely sure the machine's free of any hijackware, Trojan, or

virus infections before installing SP3.

4.Run Disk Cleanup then run a Defrag session before installing SP3.

5.Disable all real-time protections (anti-virus; anti-spyware;third-party

firewall) before downloading/installing SP3.

6.Reboot twice after installing SP3.

7.Run another Defrag.

Hi, Teriel,

As of now, there are no known significant problems with SP3.

However, there may be specific individual problems with software you are running, such

as the already posted link about Norton 2008. Check with your software vendors before

installing.

In order to remove Norton *completely* it is highly recommended to download

and run the Norton Removal Tool:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2008/2007/2006/2005/2004/2003

products and Norton 360 from your computer.

This is a much better procedure to really uninstall Norton:

Good advice. Kudos...

eg most "upgrade" problems are due to nasties running 24/7 during the

"upgrade"
