Guest supersonic_oasis Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Hi all, I am running out of room on my C: drive on a Win2003 R2 server. I noticed in the C:\Windows folder there are a lot of compressed folders that whose name starts with $NTUninstall and I believe those are folders that Windows Update puts there. Is there a safe way to move those folders without messing up my server? It would be nice If I could get rid of them, as some of them are quite big. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Re: Moving Windows Update Files Hello supersonic_oasis, If you are sure, that you not need to uninstall them you can safely delete them. Or move them to a different location and if needed move them back for reinstalling. ONLY the $hfmig$ you have to leave there and the service pack folders i would keep also. Additional check the c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder. If also big, stop automatic update service and delete it, start the service and it will be rebuilded.
