Guest smackallica Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Two weeks ago my computer froze up. I powered down and repowered up. As Windows was loading it stopped and an error stated: Floppy diskette error: Press F1 to try again, F2 to reboot. This error pops up every time anything is tried. I have tried to repair and re install with my CD. After the long wait of Windows completely reinstalling, that error pops up. I just bought and replaced my hard drive thinking that may be the problem. After installing Windows XP Professional on my new hard drive that error popped up again. Is there anything anyone can offer that may help? Also, I do not have a floppy drive. Thank you.

Is this appearing before the Windows boot screen?

Guest John John (MVP) Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Re: Re-installing XP Pro.... Maybe you should have replaced your floppy drive instead... Go in the BIOS and disable the Floppy drive and see if you can boot the computer. John smackallica wrote: > Two weeks ago my computer froze up. I powered down and repowered up. Error message says there's a problem accessing your floppy drive so you assume the BIOS (we haven't gotten to the OS or the hard drive yet) is lying. You reinstall XP and replace the hard drive. Beats me.
