KariLayland Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 My hard drive keeps filling up and I know I'm not saving as much as it's hogging up. I have a 600GB hard drive. When I go into "my computer" and click on properties for hard disc C, it tells me that I only have 12.7GB left and 570GB used. This number increases by the minute and I can't figure out what's taking up all that space! I checked my C drive folder and checked the properties of every folder in there, and the total of them all only comes to 188GB. So there's 382GB of hard drive space unaccounted for. I'm beyond confused, and hoping someone has had some experience with this kind of phenomenon. Extra info: recycling bin is empty, I just uninstalled carbonite backup software thinking that might be the issue, but it didn't change anything. I have Norton 360 running and have seen no virus alerts. I defragmented last Wednesday. Thanks so much for your help! Kari Quote

KenB Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I have Norton 360 running I have seen this before with Norton. I don't use Norton so I apologise if this is wrong: You are looking for Norton backup files. C:\ > NAVMSE > backup If you put the mouse pointer on this folder it will tell you how big it is. I suspect this is where all of your free space is going. If I am wrong with the above path use treesize to locate the backup folder.
