Guest fend Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Hi, hoping this is in the right catagory, ok, when a program puts a shortcut on the desktop, if I go to delete it by right clicking or even just highlighting & hitting delete on the keyboard the computer just stops responding, get a message saying 'windows explorer has stopped working' & that it is trying to find a solution which it doesnt, just goes blank then comes back to desktop like its reloading. (if I put something on the desktop I can delete it, just seems to be shortcuts, even ones I have put on) hope you can understand what I am saying & that you are able to help. Thanks -- F.E.N.D

Do you see VISTA in the group title? Ask elsewhere
Guest Andrew E. Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 RE: Vista: desktop shortcuts will not delete help please :) If vista has some xp properties,R.click the desktop, properties, display, customize, web tab, locate the "desktop clean up wizard" select to:"run now" It'll clean up youre desktop. Why would you choose this one rather than one with Vista in the title, eg microsoft.public.windows.vista.general? PS I wouldn't run a cleanup, as Andrew E. suggests.

Thus many vista users are thus forced to post their problems in the nearest available group which often happens to be this one. I, also, cannot access any of the vista groups.
