Help! No User Name On Login Screen

When I start my PC and the screen comes up it just says "To begin,

click your user name" but there is nothing there to click so I can log

in. On the PC I have these accounts-Administrator,1 user. and

something called asp I think. The PC was working fine until I used a

tweaking prog so I guess I did something wrong. But I can't get in!

I've tried everything but nothing works.

Thank-you

Try tapping F8 right at power on to get to Safe Mode.

If you can get to a list of options, use UP arrow to get to SM, hit ENTER.

Do a System Restore from in there.

If using Norton, disable it before using SR

Hi!

Use F8 at boot (after BIOS init) to enter Windows in Safe Mode. This should

let you open the control panel and use the user control panel. There switch

to classic login and disable fast user switching.

You could also use regedit (start->execute regedit <enter>) to search for

any occurence of AutoAdminLogon (usually inside WinLogon) and if it's value

it set to 1 change it to 0.

All of this should bring back the normal (nt4/w2k/w2k3) login screen where

you can enter name, password (and domain if configured) and hopefully login

properly then.

Regards

I've tried safe mode but is just looks like it's loading drivers and I

get nothing to work with. It goes back to the same login screen with

no accounts. After using F8 I can get to- restore last good

configuration, but that doesn't help either.

Are you using XP Pro? If yes hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice. What was the name

of that "tweaking" program?

Did you use TweakUI?

Hide User Account with Tweak UI

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/remove-user-accounts-from-the-login-screen-in-windows-xp/

At the login screen, just hit the Ctrl+Alt+Delete combination twice in a

row, and you'll be presented with the old-school login screen, where you have

to manually enter the username.

Try using the user name and passwords of all users one at time until you get

to windows and undo the tweak.

Try:
