Guest Vin Steele Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I am running Windows XP Professional. I automatically install all high-priority updates every week. For the last week or so, everytime I log on, I find that my PC's clock is an hour ahead. When I go to the 'Adjust Date/Time' window, I find that my time zone is set to "GMT-03:00, Brasilia" instead of "GMT-05:00, Eastern Time (US and Canada)', which is where I live. I change the setting, and my time is then accurate until I shut my PC down. When I start up again, I am find my time zone is again set to "GMT-03:00, Brasilia" . I have never been to that time zone, and I have never taken my PC out of my time zone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Vin Steele

Guest Vin Steele Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Re: Time zone changes each time I turn on my PC Thank you for your response, but it did not help me as I do not have 32time as an installed service "Kelly" wrote: > Go to Start/Run and type in: cmd > At the prompt, type in: > > 1. I have this same problem. I have not been able to find out why it happens, or how to keep it from happening. Nothing pertaining to time appears in the event log. I have unregistered and reregistered w32tm, as suggested. It still happens. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

The only thing which changes is the time zone. It *appears* that any time I change locations and reconnect to a network, the time zone changes from GMT -05:00 Eastern US and Canada to GMT -03:00 Brasilia. "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes" is NOT checked. "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server" is NOT checked. However, the time zone changes of its own accord even when these are checked (I have tried enabling and disabling them many times). OMG I just found it! I was thinking about how this happens when I connect to a network, and I tried to think about the things I do when that happens. I use a utility called NetSwitcher to manage the different wireless network settings at each location, and I looked to see if it has a setting for time zone. IT DOES. I just never noticed it! And some of my wireless "locations" in NetSwitcher has the GMT -03:00 time zone. Problem solved! Woot!
