DISKPART : Change volume number ...

Hello,

I have made a WIM image (with ImageX) of a source master (win XP) I

would like to deploy on several other computers. The source system

contains several partitions (with a dual XP boot) and a dvd rom drive.

I use diskpart to create and format partitions on target systems

before applying the Wim images for each partitions.

My problem :

When I do a "DISKPART > list volume" on the source computer, volume #

0,1 and 2 are my system partitions, and volume #3 is the DVD-Rom

drive.

The problem is that I can't have this volume order when creating and

formating the partitions on the target computers ! The DVD-Rom is

always shown as volume 0 (and is not removable), and my partitions are

created as volume 1,2 and 3 ...

I got partition hiding set on the source XP (throught windows disk

mgmt), but as volume numbers are different in the target system, it

does not work ... I also got problems with the dual boot not loading

the good volumes ...

So do anybody know a way to change the DVD-ROM volume number on

diskpart (to be set at 3 instead of 0) ?

The partition numbers are the same on the source and target system ...

The only difference is the volume numbering ...

Please help :-)

Re: DISKPART : Change volume number ...

Will using volume label instead of volume # solve the problem?
