"New Folder" warning puzzler

When I make a new folder, either on the desktop or in an app's Save window, I

get this warning:

"Renaming, moving or deleting 'New Folder' could make some programs not work.

Are you sure you want to do this?"

Yes or No

I can highlight a folder and "Rename" with no trouble--I think it's the "new"

thing that bothers the system. Just running one virus app--nothing, and I

mean nothing else.

Anyone with insight on this one?

In some ways that Alert message is normal as windows let you know that you

are on the brink of doing something serious to one of the folders by renaming

or creating/deleting new Folder.

It does this to protect you from renaming a file(s)/folder(s) that have

shortcuts somewhere on the Computer it could be on desktop or in another

folder. By renaming or creating another folder with the same name or

Different name can render this Folder Useles (the shortcut and you lose all

sub folders created inside this Folder(s).

To overcome this issue try to run disk clean up and then this tool:

http://www.ccleaner.com

Run the Registry Option and scan for issues then click on Fix issues/Errors

and save a copy/Back up on the Desktop then remove all or Fix All error. Try

to rename or Create new Folder, does it happen?

If it doesn't and everything else work okay Delete the backup from the

ccleaner on the desktop.

HTH.

Thanks, Nass.

I avoid reg messer-rounders these days and like someone who quit smoking,

preach it often now that I'm converted.

However, I do like Ace Utils and CCleaner (and my fave reg cleaner was

Registry First Aid as it evaluated and categorized the potential removals

instead of a mass chopping of keys--which many reg cleaners unfortunately

do...) and have yet to remove CCleaner off the desktop for some reason only

the psyche knows...

So, you talked me into it, and I used the temp files cleaner only. Over a gig

of temp files--so I'll let it remove them...

After that, we'll see. Warning me on newly created folders was a new one in 6

years of XP-ing...
