Guest retroguybilly@gmail.com Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Running XP standard and the printer is a Canon PC1200/iC D700. Printer works well most of the time, but after the computer has been running for awhile it won't print unless I reboot. Canon says there is no problem with their driver and it has not been updated. Any ideas? Thanks. retro

If so, it might be an idea to check the properties of the USB root hub in Device Manager. On the Power Management tab, is "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" checked? If it is, uncheck it and see if that solves the problem. -- Nightowl
Guest Bob I Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Re: XP won't print unless I reboot Have you tried stopping and restarting the printer? Is it a USB attached printer? Is the USB port being powered off to save power? You can force the USB ports to NOT power down in Device Manager. retroguybilly@gmail.com wrote: > Running XP standard and the printer is a Canon PC1200/iC D700. > Printer works well most of the time, but after the computer has been > running for awhile it won't print unless I reboot. Once in a while, I have had a problem similar to yours with the Canon printer. In such incidents, I found that the print command had actually started the HP printer as a "process", which could be seen in the Task Manager. Normal behaviour is restored if I terminate the process in the Task Manager and retry printing.
