Open/Save as in Details view as a default

Is there anyway of changing XP (SP2) so that the Open and Save As

dialogs open with a Details view as the default view? Perhaps there's

something I can change in the registry?

A quote from a post I read somewhere:

 

'Open a common dialog box, change the view to the one you want, and then

hit Ctrl/Cancel. Yes, it's counterintuitive, but this solution is in Ed

Bott's book "Windows XP Inside and Out" and it works.'

Thanks Joe but that only covers it for each app within Microsoft

Office. It doesn't address the system-wide behavior.

Kelly's Korner tip is bogus.

 

This is what you want. And it's freeware.

 

FileOpenPatcher from ElmüSoft enlarges the Windows Open File dialog. (in Comdlg32.dll)

FileOpenPatcher is the successor of the famous MultiEnhancer.

suggest you should suspect what you read elsewhere as

misinformation and stop repeating it. )

Strange, I did a Google search for many variations on the quote and

couldn't find it anywhere, so I've deleted it.
