Guest Bob Balmer Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Apparently, I have a nonexistant "ghost" program taknig up half of my hard disk. The Add or Remove Programs task cannot find or uninstall it. What can I do to overcome this problem and free up half of my hard drive???? -- Bob Balmer

Guest Bob Balmer Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Re: How do I get rid of a nonexistant "ghost" program? When I open the Add or Remove Program screen it shows the program in question (Embark Technologies Six Sigma Calculator for Palm OS) with 17.5 GB. When I try to remove it I get the message "The specified uninstall script does not exist." And while this prograsm is still available on the Internet, Embark Technologies does not have a web site, so I can't contact them directly. -- Bob Balmer "Pegasus (MVP)" wrote: > > "Bob Balmer" <BobBalmer@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:CF0ECF5F-700C-4EE2-859D-5FFA17D974C3@microsoft.com... > > Apparently, I have a nonexistant "ghost" program taknig up half of my hard > > disk. Download JDiskReport from http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/jdiskreport/index.html Run it and find out what's taking up space on your hard disk. Once you know the identity of the culprit, you can find out how to delete it. -- Lem -- MS-MVP To the moon and back with 2K words of RAM and 36K words of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer http://history.nasa.gov/afj/compessay.htm

You're probably dealing with a residue of an application that has long since ceased to exist on your hard disk. Use "My Computer" to examine all folder names in "C:\" and in "C:\Program Files". Does on of them relate to this application?
