Guest Bill Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 my taskbar is stuck at double height. I can make it taller but not down to standard height.

Try moving the bars around a bit on whatever toolbars are showing. You probably dragged the border of one of your toolbars, making it too long to fit on a one-line taskbar. -- Terry R. ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. Guest Bill Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Re: Taskbar stuck at double height Hi Terry...thx for the input but the only other task bar I have is the bar to the right showing the programs currently running & it dosen't have the bar to resize it anymore either. The icons are are bunched in a square in the right corner. It's strange. I've never encountered this before. What is to the right of the Taskbar is the System Tray. Make sure your Taskbar is unlocked (I assume it is if you already can make it taller) by right clicking on it and if "Lock the Taskbar" is checked, click on it once. Now you should be able to see vertical "bars". They are denoting where a toolbar is within the Taskbar. If you don't see any vertical bars, right click on the Taskbar again, look under Toolbars and uncheck any that are checked. Guest Bill Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Re: Taskbar stuck at double height Hi Terry, The first thing I checked was whether the task bar was locked. It was not. The only toolbar I have is the quick launch. When I remove it, the task bar goes back to normal. When I add it back again the taskbar goes back to double height. It has something to do with the quick launch. Weird huh... You need to find the "end" of the toolbar and drag it back to only the small area next to the Start button. -- Terry R. ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. Guest Bill Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Re: Taskbar stuck at double height Hi Terry, The first thing I checked was whether the task bar was locked. It wasn't. However, I turned the quick launch bar off & the task bar returned to normal height. When I added it back the task bar returned to double height. It has something to do with the quick launch bar. Weird huh? I'm a high level Windows user & have never seen anything like this before. The answer has been given to you by Terry R., but to state in different words, click the vertical divider in the bottom row that is to the left of the QL bar, and drag it to the right of the QL bar. Release and you should have one long divider on either side of the QL area. Now drag the Taskbar to the preferred height, and resize the QL bar to the preferred width. -- Joe =o)
Guest Bill Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Re: Taskbar stuck at double height Hi Joe, I would love to be able to resize the quick launch bar but the vertical lines are not present when the bar is at vertical height. I've never seen ths before & I've been using windows since it was first released. It's really strange. Guest Bill Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 RE: Taskbar stuck at double height Hey guys... I just fixed the problem. I moved the vertical bar next to the Start menu just a little to the right & the vertical bar re-appeaared next to the quick launch bar. I was then able to fix the problem. Thx for your input.
