Hi I was wanting to make a trailer for a film I was going to make on Movie maker live I downloaded it from Windows website and when I add the video it dosnt show it its just a black screen in the preview box. But when I add pictures or music they work fine. The video is a AVI format from the program fraps. I have never had this problem before with this program can anyone help please as I really need this trailer to be up so I can get on with the film

 

My specs

 

GTX 560 non ti

 

AMD atholon x4

 

8gig

 

x64 bit

Hi, the simplest answer with free software such as Windows Live Moviemaker is uninstall, download a fresh copy and reinstall from fresh, quite often it is all that may be needed.

I have it and with no problems, I also downloaded the slightly older Moviemaker for Vista, I find that a bit easier to use as it is still based on the older XP version, still runs well on Windows 7.

I'm not familiar with Fraps but it could be codecs. Try a different AVI file. One not made by Fraps. If that works then it might be Fraps.

OK, having read Randy's post, and thanks for that Wiki Link Randy, I suggest running the video through AVC first, AVC is "Any Video Converter" download it from here=

 

http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

 

It is free software, make sure you click the link for the free version. I use it to convert all sorts of video with no problem, just run the video through it to convert it to standard AVI format, you should then be able to use it in the Windows Live Movie maker.
