Guest LondonLad Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Hi XP pro SP3 I am a single user with full Admin rights, i did not like to have to log in with a user name so I followed instructions ib my XP book. eg:- Start - Run Enter text:- control userpasswords2 Press Enter remove check mark Users Must Enter..... Enter the user name and password you want to log on automatically So I thought use Home and then a password but this was not my name or the administrators(me) now when I log on I get an error, if I click OK everything works fine. When I go to the Users Account GUI up at the top on the grey section left hand corner to the right of the Right Green Arrow there is the User Account Icon Home All attemps to clear this has failed, can you help please? Ron
Guest Kelly Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Re: User Accounts What is the exact error message? As for the two people icons/Home - that is native to XP. You didn't put it there. -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP) Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm SupportSpace http://www.supportspace.com/pages?aiu=kellyskorner "LondonLad" <LondonLad@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0340B6C0-D687-4B01-8A6C-9753EB8ADF5E@microsoft.com... > Hi > XP pro SP3 > I am a single user with full Admin rights, i did not like to have to log > in > with a user name so I followed instructions ib my XP book. > eg:- Start - Run > Enter text:- control userpasswords2 Press Enter > > remove check mark Users Must Enter..... > > Enter the user name and password you want to log on automatically > > So I thought use Home and then a password but this was not my name or the > administrators(me) now when I log on I get an error, if I click OK > everything > works fine. > When I go to the Users Account GUI up at the top on the grey section left > hand corner to the right of the Right Green Arrow there is the User > Account > Icon Home > All attemps to clear this has failed, can you help please? > > Ron
Guest LondonLad Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Re: User Accounts Hi Kelly With the log On name Home I think I did type it in. Error Msg. The system could not log you on. Make sure your user name and domain are correct. then type your password again, letters in passwords must be typed using correct case. Behind this error message, the XP login GUI can be seen but it is never active because after you click OK it logs in.
