Getting Wallpaper tab back in the Display Properties panel.

Hello,

I was at a friends home today helping her with a virus problem. One of the

things the virus did was replace the wallpaper with one that has a fake

program message box.

I right clicked on the desktop to get the Display Properties dialog box so

that I could pick a new wallpaper file but the Wallpaper tab and the Screen

Saver tab were missing. This prevented me from choosing a new wallpaper file.

How do I get those tabs back so that I can change the wallpaper and screen

saver settings?

-

Thanks,

Tom

See if one of the registry fixes from this web site helps.

Courtesy of Kelly Theriot, MS-MVP

Line 128, right hand column, Restore Desktop and Screensaver Tabs

Line 285, right hand column, Restore All Display Tabs

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

You might also want to download the registry fix on line 142, right hand column,

Allow Wallpaper/Background Changes.

Good luck
