SP3 has broken the remote desktop connection

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced any problems with remote desktop connection 6.1

client not working after installing XP SP3? Note 6.x was not installed

before the upgrade.

When I try to connect to any other machine, PC or server, I get the error

"Remote Desktop Connection has encountered a problem and needs to close..."

When i check the details it mentions the appname mstsc.exe (obviously) and

the modname mstscax.dll.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Re: SP3 has broken the remote desktop connection

Guys,

FYI, to get around this I have simply replaced mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll

with the previous versions in the SP uninstall folder. There are no

functions in version 6.1 of the client that we need so running the older

version is OK until MS release some more updates to hopefully fix this.
