lizzyb Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I have a toshiba laptop and today the keyboard has been playing up. I think its probably because it got water in it as I went on it briefly with wet hair yesterday and some must have dripped into it. Its being really weird as sometimes the space bar will stop working and the 1 and 2 buttons but other times they'll work fine and the o p k l m n u buttons will stop working scroll lock keeps turning itself on as well when the p button goes it'll usually type * instead and l will scroll dwn instead it keeps swapping and changing between the two problems thank you for your help Quote
KenB Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS It does sound like water damage. Try a hair dryer set on the lowest setting and dry the keys out. Turn the laptop over and use the hairdryer through the vents. Eventually the water will evaporate. DO NOT switch the machine on as - if water is present - it could short out the circuitry. You can - if there is still a problem - use a USB keyboard. Give the water time to dry out.
