Hello,

I have a problem with my windows XP.

My windows 2000 server working fine with some warnings for the driver files

that is understandable .

I have installed windows 2000 server after XP and now whenever I am trying

to boot XP,I am getting a black screen with an error message "Windows 2000

could not start because of the file is missing or

corrupt:\windows\system32\config\systemd startup options for windows

2000,press F8.

I tried to copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM from the actual XP Cd in to the

WINNT folder.Still no luck!!!

is there anyway I can boot both the system instead of removing the XP and

2000 and change the order of installing o.s?

please help me to find a solution.

thanks

mil

You need to post much more information, e.g.

- Which OS did you install first?

- Which partition did you install it on?

- Where did you install the second OS?

- Does WinXP still run?

- What is the contents of the hidden file c:\boot.ini?

The Windows 2000 version of the shared files NTDETECT.COM & ntldr

cannot boot a Windows XP installation, the Windows XP version of those

files are aware of Windows 2000 and can boot the older operating system.

If you do an in-place upgrade (repair) or install Windows 2000 after

XP is installed it will replace the XP version of the files with the

older Windows 2000 versions. After the installation or repair you have

to replace those files with the XP versions, the files can be extracted

from the Windows XP cd.

You were on the right track, but you copied the file to the wrong

directory. The files belong in the root directory of the system

partition, right along side the boot.ini file, usually this is C:\
