worked for several years on my XP Pro machine. Now it will not load. Event

Re: .NET Framework 2.0

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3).

>>> I have an accounting program that must use .NET Framework 2.0. The

>>> program

>>> as worked for several years on my XP Pro machine. Now it will not load.

What program & version is it?

>>> Event viewer [says?] it is a .NET Framework 2.0 Error.

Post the complete error message.

>>> However I cannot install the dotnetfx.exe says it is the wrong verson.

The wrong version of what? Post the complete error message.

Is .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 installed?

The above notwithstanding...

1. Important: Write down what .NET Framework versions are already installed!

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785

2. Now try Resolutions Method 1 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100

(ignore the title); If no joy, try Method 2.

3. If still no joy, see this related post by my colleague MowGreen (ignore

any references to updating .NET Framework):

Re: .NET Framework 2.0

I have XP Pro SP3

The app is Peachtree accounting, when I load the app it says: "Peactree has

encountered a problem and must close, etc."

Event Viewer says: Event ID 100 .NET Runtime 2.0 Error

I searched for this error in the KB then tried the hotfix: dotnetfx and get:

"Setup cannot continue because this version of the .NETframeword in

incompatible wiht a previously installed one."

Yes .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 is installed.

I will look at your other suggestions in the am and post a new reply after

trying them.

Thanks

Re: .NET Framework 2.0

I unstalled and re installed per your suggestion.

Opened Peachtree just fine. Tried to open again failed with same error (.NET

Framwork 2.0 Runtime error)

However if I reboot I can open Peachtree but only once until I re boot again.

Re: .NET Framework 2.0

Are you running Peachtree 2008, 2009, or an earlier version? cf.

http://www.peachtree.com/support/vista/default.cfm?WT.mc_id=RD_peachtree.com/vista;

http://www.peachtree.com/peachtreeaccountingline/complete/system.cfm;

In any event, I'd contact Peachtree Support about this or check the Sage KB

via http://www.peachtree.com/support/rightnow/login.cfm

The above notwithstanding...

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for

Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and

e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada.
