Guest James Egan Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I can't ping my wife's PC from mine on our home network. My PC's IP address is 192.168.1.4, and my wife's is 192.168.1.3. Our Linksys router is 192.168.1.1, and is the gateway for both PC's I can't ping her PC from mine, and vice versa. I turned off her Windows firewall, and also her Avast virus protection (including flex firewall) and still can't ping one from the other. What else could be preventing me from being able to ping her PC? -Thanks
Guest Sascha Korritter Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Re: Why can't I ping host on own home network? Hi James, can you connect to the internet? Do you have the same subnet mask configured? Do you use wireless or wired network? May check for third party tools which could block the ping pakets or hide computers in the network. May your router has a hardware firewall involved wich block the traffic. Regards Sascha

Locate info on how to start up XP in a "clean boot" method and try this. Clean booting XP should not load any advanced software modules / drivers. Also, check in the network configuration and unload any advanced module that might be loaded. Minimum network modules should be: Client for Microsoft networks (???) File / Printer sharing Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
