[Solved] New Female 3.5 mm audio Jack

Hey,

 

Im wondering if anyone can help me i need a replacement 3.5mm audio jack [ATTACH=CONFIG]1365[/ATTACH] as you can see next to the USB the problem is the bottom snapped off the port and now needs replacing. The port is a standard female 3.5 mm audio jack with three connections under it running along the middle hopefully you can see it in the picture this is for an LG home cinema MODEL HT304SU-DH.

 

also can i just unsoilder the old jack and soilder on the new one?

I can't make out the area of the PCB that you are referring to.

Any chance of a photo of the other side so I can place the jack socket ?

 

If it is only the socket that is damaged then it should be a simple job to take the damaged one out and replace it.

 

I used to order from Rapid Electronics and RS Electronics. Both have on-line catalogues.

hope this photo help although from this side you cant see the damage its on the other side

There is a PDF data sheet that gives specific sizes. You could compare these to the one you have.

Be careful removing the old solder, do you have a solder sucker or similar remover?

That will remove the old solder in order to assist in removing the broken jack socket and fitting and soldering in a new one.

Make sure the new solder doesn't bridge across those narrow gaps on the circuit print.

hey thanks for the help in the end i had to buy the replacement part cause after looking at loads i figured none of them would line up with the hole for the jack.

A lot of these PCBs are produced in Taiwan and the Middle East and often simple components like a jack socket are not compatible with what is available here.

 

Good to hear that you have it sorted.
