Guest ExplicitYourSelf Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 The CPU is a compact wiondows xp home edition. This is the first time that i am trying to burn a dvd-r cd as data? Im pretty much trying to back up my music just incase anything was to happen. I added all the songs to the burn list, I switched the type from audio cd to data cd since I wanted to make a data cd. WMP reads that the disk is blank and then i go ahead and click "burn" and as soon as i click on burn the cd gets ejected from the tower, Would anyone have any idea as far as whats wrong with my computer. I dont have any problems burning audio cd's or data cd's using CD-R, so i'm not sure whats going on ?If you need more info about my computer just let me know. Thanks =) EDIT: This is the drivers I have ASUS CD S480/AH & LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S
Guest ColTom2 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Re: Wmp11 doesn't let me burn a cd? Check your computer capability for burning DVD's, as you probably do not have the capability to burn a DVD. Probably it has a CD-RW, but not DVD-RW capability, "ExplicitYourSelf" <u45703@uwe> wrote in message news:8927bf2eff87f@uwe... The CPU is a compact wiondows xp home edition. When I click on my computer it shows that I have DVD-RW Drive (I:) which is the first tray on the tower and CD Drive (J:) which is the second tray on the tower. Guest ColTom2 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Re: Wmp11 doesn't let me burn a cd? Install free Belarc Advisor and it will tell you everything about your computer, both hardware and software that is installed. Also the status of Windows Security updates installed. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html It sounds as if you have the hardware, but not the software to burn DVD's. Windows XP does not contain built-in software to burn DVD's. You will need third party software. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/expert/jones_02november25.mspx"ExplicitYourSelf" <u45703@uwe> wrote in message news:8928c43260ae4@uwe...Where do I go to see my computers capabilities? Windows XP does not natively burn to a DVD only CDs. You need something like Nero or Roxio (I prefer Nero myself.) Patty

Guest ColTom2 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Re: Wmp11 doesn't let me burn a cd? I agree with Patty in that I also prefer Nero over Roxio. Nero has many features and for the most part is user friendly. You probably can find an older version, which is new, on eBay for Nero relatively cheap. Frankly I prefer the older version Nero 7 over Nero 8. Belarc is a great application to let you know both hardware and software, as I mentioned previously "Patty" <patty@iainttellin.com> wrote in message news:18ue1ubvbhopc.1wszpisbh9rz5$.dlg@40tude.net...
