sky_blue217 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Hey guys I'm kinda new here so I'm sorry if I say anything stupid. Anyways I was planning on buying a new graphics card and was wondering if the radon hd 6850 is compatible with my computer OP: Windows home basic Model: Aspire X1900 Processor: Pentium® Dual-Core cpu E6700 @ 3.20 gHZ 3.20 Ghz Ram: 2.00gb system type: 32bit op system Quote
KenB Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS I think these are the specs for your PC http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/2010/acer/aspire/AspireX1900/AspireX1900sp2.shtml You have 1 PCIe x 16 slot available on the motherboard. This is where the Graphics Card would fit. You only have a 220Watt Power Supply Unit. The Radeon HD 6850 requires a 500Watt PSU minimum therefore you would need to upgrade your PSU at the same time. sky_blue217 Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Thanks for the reply kenb :)) so does this mean I only have to upgrade my PSU then I can install the Radeon HD 6850? Quote
KenB Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Yes - that's it. You must make sure that the PSU is compatible. I found this: (it suggests that it is compatible with your Acer machine ) http://www.amazon.com/ATXPowerSupplies-DPS-220UB-PY-22009-003-PY-22009-006-PY-2200B-001/dp/B006GJN8RQ If this is the style of PSU that you have then it is not a standard ATX one. You may have difficulty finding an upgrade to the 500Watts needed. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
