Please help The Product Key should be with the CD you used to do the repair. If not, you're out of luck and will have to buy a new license. Alias
Guest PaulM Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Re: Windows XP product Key What kind of disk did you use for the repair? Was it a real XP disk from Microsoft or a restore disk? If the OS was installed when to got the computer, there will be a sticker on the computer with the XP key. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.paulsxp.com http://www.paulsxp.com/forum http://www.supportspace.com/home/home.s2?aiu=paulm --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "claude" <claude@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:051520E4-EB9E-4B92-AC05-F69D65E20DFA@microsoft.com... > My 6 yr old computer with Win Xp home edition crahed recently, I have > restored it by running Repair from the disk that I have, and believe that > came from the store I bought the computer from ?, now the computer boots > up > and the screen come up and is asking for a key numbers, where do I get the > keys numbers from, I am not even sure that I have the receipt for this > machine to go back to the store with. > Is there a key that microsoft can send me in order to continue my work on > this machine, I really do not want to loose all I have. Please help There is a program called Product Key at http://www.nirsoft.net you can download and install. It will find keys in existing OS'S. If you can hook your computer up to a network you can run Product Key from a remote box. Info is in the readme.txt HTH. -- Semper Fi

Guest Richard in AZ Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Re: Windows XP product Key Did you look on the case for a sticker with the Microsoft Windows XP label. I should have the Product key on it. If it is not there, then it should have been on the package the Disk came in. If you did not keep these, you may be SOL. It's not always on the envelope. Try SIW or BelArc Advisor, etc.: They will read and report the key code to you. SIW is about the best you will find, IMO. It's much more inclusive than any of the others. http://www.gtopala.com/ it's free of course, as are most all of them.
