KenB Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS Didn't you used to play for Manchester United? :) I need to know the make and model number of your PC and the size ( in Watts ) of your Power Supply. The PC details will do if you don't know the PSU details. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Dennislaw17 Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 haha i like this guy :P and ya thats who i was named after ... good think i ended up a united fan and as far as computers go i bought my computer from a friend that build it from scratch... so how would i go about finding this information Quote
Dennislaw17 Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 but i do know the power supply is 500W Quote
KenB Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 If it is a purpose built PC then we need to check out the motherboard to see if it has a PCIe slot for your card. Chances are that it has - but it is best to check. There should be a make and number in large letters on the motherboard. Can you take a look and let me know please. If this is the card : http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=01G-P3-1556-KR You only need a 400Watt PSU minimum so yours should be fine. KenB Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 That doesn't ring any bells. Post what you can find and we can take it from there. This shows 2 PCIe x16 slots ( blue ) yours may have only 1 ...................or none :) (They are not always blue - just to add to the confusion ) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Dennislaw17 Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 ahh im not to sure ... but does the evga card im looking at fit the 8600 that have in my computer now because the picture i sent you i still had the video card in you just couldnt see it and the pci sockets that you could see were extras Quote
Dennislaw17 Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 if not what good card could i get that would fit my board Quote
KenB Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I think that must be your m/board as it has N15235 on it. take a look here for cards: click here Remember to look up the system specs of the card to make sure your 500Watt PSU is good enough. Some cards will require 1 or 2 PCIe 6 pin power connectors from the PSU. You can get Molex ( normal power connector ) adapters if yours does not have them. Dennislaw17 Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 so the evga 550 doesnt fit my board? Quote
KenB Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 so the evga 550 doesnt fit my board? Yes it does. Sorry - I got side-tracked. You have a 500Watt PSU and the card only needs 400Watt so you will be ok there too.
