RE: Reformating my PC quik Question

First,XP should always get installed to C:,not D:.If youre getting

installations

of XP to D:,then youre not installing correctly....I'd boot to xp cd,select

r For

recovery at xp cd boot menu, select 1 For C:,press enter for password, type:

DiskPart Delete partitions, create one, press ESC key, type:EXIT Reboot to xp

cd,select install xp,delete partition,create one,then let xp format &

install auto.

The only other reason for getting D:,you have other hd connected on install,

physically uninstall till xp is running, then replug at shutdown.

RE: Reformating my PC quik Question

Why do you want to do this?

I also suggest you take a close look at why you think your system drive is

D: it should be C:

if you really want to reformat and reinstall, be certain you have all your

hardware drivers before hand, then boot to the XP CD and choose format then

install.

Re: Reformating my PC quik Question

That information you gave is totally false. Windows XP will run just fine

when installed with any letter of the alphabet except A & B. You could use

BootIt NG to remove the four-primary-partition limit, and then install 24

partitions on a single HD with XP if you so desired, all using different

letters of the alphabet. In fact, you could theoretically install a lot more

by just installing to different folders on those 24 partitions.

Of course, you'd need a TB-sized disk to do it, or more than one, but your

advice is, in any case, totally wrong.

Re: Reformating my PC quik Question

1. If you're going to get serious about getting peer support from this

group, you should use a real newsreader. Click here:

http://news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

2. We need a lot more information. How many HD do you have, how many

partitions, what are on those partitions? In as much detail as you feel

comfortable providing, but at least tell us where the OSes are installed

(example: C:\Windows, or F:\WINNT) Also what those OSes are (Windows 9x or

2K or Vista or Linux or what?)
